this would be part three of the archive, covering november 2001 through february 2002. and there is, in fact, a part two. it just got too big to fit on the home page anymore. but it's presented here, in its entirety, for your reading pleasure...

< FEBRUARY 20 > wow. i'm a horrible person for not updating more frequently. i'm just really stressed out. working like mad, trying to put all of my worldly belongings into little boxes, selling crap on ebay, etc etc. plus i get to go to michigan this weekend because my dad is currently recovering from surgery. it's been a hectic couple of weeks. go buy my stuff and make me feel better.

< FEBRUARY 6 > now this is funny. if i didn't have 5 inches of snow on my car, i would drive up to the kroger and pick up a copy. too bad i'm lazy like that.

< FEBRUARY 5 > it's been snowing for the past four hours or so. we've got a good 3 inches on the ground. i can't wait to see what closes down tomorrow due to the "snowstorm." but here's the scary part: earlier tonight, i contemplated running up to the store, but decided against it because i couldn't go outside. it was snowing. i'm getting soft...

< FEBRUARY 4 > i've been told that it takes 21 days to form or break a habit. that said, i'm entering day 4 of my great campaign to quit smoking. it's been touch and go, but i haven't had a cigarette since thursday. i think this time i might actually mean it when i say i'm quitting.

big sports weekend... nhl all-star game on saturday. khabibulin totally got robbed for mvp. and i actually watched the whole super bowl, not just for the commercials either. i'm not a big football fan, but i have to say that it was a good game.

< JANUARY 31 > i rebooked my truck today, because i can't seem to put a definite date on this move. the forces of nature and the rec league hockey playoffs are conspiring against me. hopefully this will all be sorted out soon, because it's making my stress levels run at all time highs. in other travel news, i got tickets to go see my sister in ireland at the end of march. that should be pretty cool. i've never been to ireland...

< JANUARY 28 > how was my weekend? better than last, that's for sure. i managed to leave the house this time. went to coffee with the ladies sunday and learned all sorts of interesting things about the world we live in... and this morning, i got a new keyboard, so my fingers fit on the keys again. this makes me very happy. but now, it's back to work for another week. bleh.

< JANUARY 21 > today is martin luther king day, and everything i tried to do was closed. the bank, the post office, the library. sad thing is that i forgot that it was a holiday in the time it took me to drive between all of those places, so the exact same scene took place in three parking lots. "why is there nobody here? oooh, right, holiday." my brain is mushy from spending too much time in front of the computer, and i shouldn't be allowed out in public.

< JANUARY 19 > cancel the search party, i'm right here. yes, i'm still running this site, and no, i'm not dead. i've just been mad busy. i was out for two weeks at the holidays--christmas in detroit, new years in colorado (which was awesome, i might add...)--and then i went out to sf for some quality time and to scope things out for the move. when i came back, there was a big pile of work with my name on it, and i've been so busy i can't breathe for the last week and a half. but in the last day and a half, no fewer than 4 people (including my mom) have asked if i ever plan to update the site again. i feel so loved... so that's the story. i resolve in 2002 to be better with keeping the site current... after i meet my deadlines, of course.

< DECEMBER 22 > hanging out in detroit with the family. spent today running errands and doing other christmas-y things like baking cookies and the like. but what i love most about coming back to detroit is being able to watch hockey night in canada on the cbc. don cherry kills me, and it was a buffalo-leafs game, so i got to see kozlov in action to boot. good deal...

< DECEMBER 19 > along with my hardware upgrade, i also took the pluge and went to os x. it's taking some getting used to, but i think it might be better. i'm not sure yet, though. it took me three days to figure out the new settings and bug work-arounds to upload files to this site. bleh.

i'm in the middle of packing for my christmas trips to michigan and colorado. i'm going to be gone for two week. i've never packed for a two-week trip before. unless you count russia, but i only brought 3 pairs of pants and 5 shirts there, so i don't really think it compares.

< DECEMBER 16 > i had to bail on the apple store. turns out they got too backed up with christmas orders, and wouldn't have been able to get my tibook to me until after the holidays. obviously, this would not do. so i went to compusa and bought one friday night. i'm coming to you today from my brand new machine. it's easily the coolest toy i've ever owned. so small, so light, so fast. his name's bert, because laura's ibook is ernest. i'm so excited i can't even stand it. merry early christmas to me...

< DECEMBER 11 > it's pouring rain here and i've just spent the last two hours playing mac tech. my firewire drive came home from the recovery joint today (all files are intact, thankfully) so i've been backing up and optimizing my system. how exciting is my life... listening to the david gray cd, and it's seeming like an appropriate soundtrack for tonight.

< DECEMBER 10 > well, i finally did it. i broke down and bought the tibook. it just taunted me for way too long. and it will be a big ole tax write-off for this year. i'm so excited. i can't wait the week to get my new toy... now i just have to inventory some of my old equipment and sell it on ebay to help defray the costs.

i've just been a spending fool today. i got the majority of my christmas shopping done. just doing my part to help the economy and all, you know. it's my patriotic duty. or something like that.

< DECEMBER 5 > no, i haven't fallen off the face of the earth. i've just been here, there and everywhere. spent thanksgiving in michigan with the family, and it was a good time, save for my brother's decision to eat his road kill at my aunt's surprise birthday party. i then headed back up to nyc for a long weekend. joe met up with me there, and we had an awesome time. good food, good friends, and a good hockey game that we managed to sneak in. i was very sad to leave. and now i'm back, and i'm totally in the weeds with work, so i've spent the last two days trying to dig myself out. i can now see the light at the end of the tunnel, which is always a good sign. if all goes well, i may even be able to get a bit of christmas shopping in tomorrow. good thing it's going to be 75 degrees here in arkansas. that's sure to put me in the holiday spirit.

< NOVEMBER 19 > alright already, the pictures are up. everyone can stop asking about them now... you can see pictures from anouska and natasha's birthday party last week right here.

< NOVEMBER 15 > the scrolly deal was beginning to take over the world again, so i had to move more of it to an archive. so for your reading pleasure, part the first and part the second...

ok, so this is a fairly accurate description my last six months of existence. and i really *did* eat fudge stripe cookies for breakfast this morning, in case you were wondering.

< NOVEMBER 14 > so it's up and it's live. josh and i launched the taxicafe media site this morning, and i guess that makes it official. we're in business. have a look in the news section, especially. i've always wanted to be the "czar" of something.

two birthdays today: anouska's and fuzzy's. happy birthday, guys!

< NOVEMBER 12 > another plane crash for the city of new york this morning. they're saying they think it's a mecahnical failure, and i really hope that's the case. not that it will make it any less of a tragedy, but i don't know how much more the people of nyc can handle in terms of feeling like they're constantly under attack. it's just sad and hard to comprehend.

checked in on #ec this morning. all my nicks expired, it had been so long since i was in there. i was beginning to miss the kids.

< NOVEMBER 6 > it's been awhile, and i wish i could say i've been busy, but that hasn't really been the case. i'm in sort of a holding pattern here, waiting for more work to come my way. i've also been plotting my next move, and trying to pick a city to move to. so far on the short list are the bay area and seattle, and if anyone can give me leads about jobs in either of those areas, i would greatly appreciate it.

saw monsters, inc last night, and pixar just keeps getting better and better at what they do. go check it out. the animation is amazing and the story's really cute.
